Utah jobless rate approaching pre-recession low

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — For the second month in a row, Utah’s unemployment rate fell again and is now at its lowest rate in five and a half years.

The latest jobless report released by the Department of Workforce Services on Friday shows May’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.6 percent.

That number is lower than a mother earlier, when the rate was 3.8 percent.

It also remains well below the national jobless rate of 6.3 percent.

The rate of unemployed Utah workers has been slowly falling back to its pre-recession level of 3.4 percent in November 2008.

DWS reports Utah added 37,500 jobs last month over May 2013.
