PRESTON - Everyone is invited to attend the opening of a new Cowboy Church scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Preston, Idaho, 48 West 100 South.

Pastor Larry MacGruder says everyone is welcome and, in fact, those attending will be welcomed with “open arms.” MacGruder says he also serves as pastor for Ogden’s Cowboy Church but he will be coming to Preston each Saturday and whenever he is needed.

So what exactly is a Cowboy Church?

“We’re known to go camping in the summer together, sit around the campfire and share some cowboy poetry,” MacGruder says. “We share some of God’s word, the Bible. There’s very much a family feel to the entire church. The folks love to be together and spend time together.”

Pastor MacGruder says the Cowboy Church is a place where people worship together in a relaxed Western style. He says there is a “come as you are” atmosphere where folks who have felt disconnected from religion for various reasons can join in and feel at home. For more information, call (801) 458-3254.
