December 8-St. John’s Episcopal Church, Logan, Utah
Boy Scout Troop One recently held their Court of Honor at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Logan, Utah, where scouting began for our 99 year old scouting unit! A Court of Honor is a time to recognize all the work each Scout and the Troop has done over the past few months, including merit badges, rank advancement, and trips—like camping or hikes—all in front of the Scout’s families.
Scouts present at the quarterly celebration all received a variety of patches, including the Centennial Quality Unit Emblem for 2009, the Embroidered Centennial Ring Emblem, BSA 100th Anniversary logo patch, as well as the prestigious 100 Year Anniversary Strip, given only to boy scouts in a scouting unit that are preparing to celebrate their 100th anniversary as a continuously chartered scouting unit. Most of the members of Troop One also received the Jamboree-on-the-Air patch, for participating in the 52nd JOTA world-wide event on October 18th by communicating with scouts from around the nation and world via amateur short wave radio.
A professionally prepared video showing the 2009 accomplishments of Boy Scout Troop One will be shown at the December 22nd Troop Meeting, which will include highlights from trips to southern Utah, England, and scout summer camp at Camp Loll near Yellowstone National Park.
