Cache listed as a county vulnerable to drought

Sixteen drought-stricken Utah counties are among more than 1,000 in 26 states that have been declared natural disaster areas, the largest such declaration ever by the <a target=”_blank” href=”http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdahome?contentid=2012/07/0228.xml&amp;navid=NEWS_RELEASE&amp;navtype=RT&amp;parentnav=LATEST_RELEASES&amp;edeployment_action=retrievecontent”>U.S. Department of Agriculture</a>.

The action makes farmers and ranchers in 1,016 counties, about a third of those in the entire country on land covering half the nation, eligible for low-interest loans to help them weather the drought, wildfires and other disasters.

Sixteen counties in Utah have been declared eligible for relief and another 13 counties are declared ‘vulnerable.’ Cache County is listed as one of those vulnerable counties.
