Cache GOP chair very pleased with convention

Although he wasn’t there, Cache County Republican Party Chairman Boyd Pugmire was very pleased with the way the National Republican Convention went. He says there were great speeches and many of them helped clear up misconceptions about the party.

“I think a very strong message was sent that the Republican Party does support women, that many women are involved in the party. I think they removed barriers concerning races. I think a lot of the scare tactics being used and the straight out lies that are being told were addressed very well.”

Pugmire says he felt Congressional candidate Mia Love did an excellent job and he expects her to defeat Democratic incumbent Jim Matheson.

To Pugmire, Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech at the National Republican Convention did what it was supposed to do.

“He was dignified in what he said and how he said it. He got to the point,” Pugmire says. “He had a plan. He told people where he wants to go and what he wants to do and how he’s going to get there. And I think that’s very important to not just hear the rhetoric of what’s wrong with the other person.”

Will the speech help boost Romney’s rankings in the polls? Pugmire says it should but he’s not sure it will, depending on how the mainstream media puts their spin on it.
