Vote for Logan woman who is a finalist for a $500,000 dog park

LOGAN— Kellie Hiskey of Logan and her dog Koda are asking Northern Utahns to help them win a national prize of $500,000 to be used for a makeover of a Logan dog park.

“I went online to the Beneful contest page and was asked to write an essay of 250 words or less answering the question ‘If you had $500,000 to create a Dream Dog Park where you and your best buddy can play together, what would you do?’ We also submitted a photo.”

Over 800 entries were received and now Kellie is one of 12 finalists in the 2012 Beneful Dream Dog Park Contest.

“The finalists were asked to create and narrate a video describing what we would do with the $500,000 and now it is up on the website now for voting and for the judges to look at for the contest.”

In addition to the public vote, which represents 20 percent of the total score to select the Grand Prize winner, a panel of judges will count for 80 percent of the final score.

“They’re looking for creativity of ideas, the feasibility of bringing it to life and effectively demonstrating how life is better together with your dog.”

Hiskey said she knows where she wants the money to go, if she wins.

“The whole community will benefit. It will be in our area in Logan, hopefully the Valley View Dog Park behind the Cache Humane Society. Everyone can come and bring their dogs to play and socialize and meet new friends. It would be great for everyone.”

It is possible to vote at BenefulDreamDogPark.com and one vote a day is allowed through Nov. 7.

The grand prize winner receives $10,000 cash and a one-year supply of Beneful brand dog food in addition to the half million-dollar makeover of a dog park in their area. The winner will be announced in November.
