Utah gun laws are fine according to Draxler

LOGAN— Utah’s gun laws are fine according to Third District Republican State Representative Jack Draxler who said more restrictive gun laws are not the way to prevent shootings similar to those that happened at Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut.

“I do think though that we need to do a better job of evaluating and hopefully intervening in the lives of people who are so mentally unbalanced that they attack completely innocent people like the poor little children in Connecticut,” Draxler said.

Wednesday Draxler said he believes mental health needs to have more attention and probably more funding. He said he’s not sure how he feels about arming teachers or others in schools, but said he will listen to debates and learn how his constituents feel about the issue before he decides how to vote.
