Gallery Walk featuring local art and now local food

A new season of Gallery Walks from the Cache Valley Center for the Arts begins Friday night (Feb. 8) and will continue through the year on the second Friday of every even month.

“We have 12 locations on this first walk,” said CVCA Program Director Amanda Castillo. “We have everything, including food. The Spirit Goat is hosting Liz Butcher from Butcher’s Bunches and she is doing some food sampling and other fun things called Preserving Your Roots.”

She said there are several new artists coming downtown including Mitch Butterfield who will be doing hardwood tattoos at Cafe Ibis.

“He has taken a lot of old, WWII art and tattoos and turned them into these beautiful pieces on wood. These are really unique pieces.

“We will have a lot of neat things and also a lot of the regulars on the walk.”

Castillo said 2013 has already been a very busy year at the CVCA.

“We have regular classes that happen in ceramics plus Unicorn Theatre and our broadcast arts and media classes that are ongoing.

“Right now we’re requesting proposals for uses of space, looking at our arts incubator over in the Mansion as well as classes in the Bullen Center.”

She said those interested in submitting information can check out the website (cachearts.org) where there is also information about performances in the Ellen Eccles Center.

“Music Theatre West is opening Jane Eyre next week running through Valentines Day, and there will be performances later this month by Chanticleer.”

She said the website also includes Gallery Walk maps and the names of all the artists featured.
