Miller’s 28 points lead Bear River past Tooele, 74-58

Bear River spoiled Tooele’s Senior Night with a 74-58 win over a scrappy Buffalo team that gave the Bears a good game for 2 1/2 quarters. That was until the Buffaloes ran out of gas.

Wade Miller led Bear River with 28 points, Austin Miller finished with 12, and Lane Bittner finished with 10. Bear River was hoping to get out to a big lead and rest the starters for their upcoming inter-region 3A tournament game next week. But to their credit, Tooele refused to cooperate and gave the Bears all they could handle, trailing by only four at half and by five midway through the 3rd quarter.

Tyler Woodruff was the leading catalyst for the Buffaloes. Bear River has now clinched Region 11’s third seed and they will now travel to Payson for their 3A state playoff opener. That game will be next Friday at 7 p.m. and can be heard on 104.9 FM in Box Elder County or online at www.kix96fm.com.
