SV softball blasts Morgan, 12-1, in five innings

SMITHFIELD— Coming off a resounding victory over valley-rival Logan Tuesday, the Sky View softball team was right back in action Wednesday as they played host to 3A Morgan. The Bobcats got off to somewhat of a slow start, but picked it up in the middle innings, cruising to a 12-1 victory.

After scoring just one run in each of the first two innings – and building a 2-0 lead – Sky View erupted for four runs in the third and fourth innings to build a 10-1 lead. The Bobcats added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to enact the mercy rule and end the game.

Abbey Hortin smacked a home run, and Makenna Grow recorded a double as Sky View tallied 11 total hits compared to just two for Morgan. Brinkli Jones went all five innings for the Bobcats in the victory, picking up a win in her first start of the young season.

Sky View (4-2, 2-1) will have little rest Thursday, as the Bobcats will play their third game in as many days when they host Region 5 foe Bonneville. Sky View is also scheduled to host Bear Lake (ID) Friday, with both Thursday and Friday’s games scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
