First Presbyterian Church to host interfaith forum on gun violence

LOGAN— Friday night is the night that local residents will gather at the First Presbyterian Church’s Bruner Hall at 6:30 p.m. to participate in an interfaith forum to discuss the issue of gun violence. The event is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Cache Community Connections.

Richard West of Cache Community Connections, an interfaith group that came together after 9-11, said they are not looking for simple solutions.

“This is an opportunity for us to demonstrate, that at a very local level, we can bring together people of varying opinions and viewpoints on this issue, and we can engage in thoughtful and respectful and civil discourse,” West said. “Perhaps emerging from all of this will be some strategies that we can all embrace.”
