Smithfield Fire Department recruiting volunteers

SMITHFIELD, Utah — The Smithfield Fire Department will be conducting its semi-annual volunteer recruitment testing at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Smithfield Fire Station, 325 W. 100 North.

The test includes a written exam and a physical skills exam. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the physical exam. Interviews may be conducted after the test if time permits. Those who are planning to test should complete a job application at Smithfield City Hall before 5 p.m. Thursday.

Smithfield Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical services to the residents and businesses of Smithfield, Hyde Park, Amalga and Benson. Department volunteers are required to complete an orientation course as well as complete classes and obtain certification for emergency medical technicians, firefighting and wildland firefighting. They are also expected to attend weekly trainings and s! taff the station an average of two nights every week and one weekend each month.
