Man arrested after injuring co-worker

<strong>LOGAN —</strong> A man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of an accident, Friday night in Smithfield. Kristofer Talancon was arrested early Saturday morning by police officers in Woods Cross.

According to Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke, Talancon and a co-worker, Joseph Marcaida, were making a delivery in Smithfield Canyon, Friday night. The two allegedly got into an argument that escalated, near 2100 East Canyon Road.

Several sources told KVNU that Talancon ran over Marcaida with the company’s moving van and then fled the scene. Marcaida received severe injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital and then flown to McKay Dee Hospital.

Cache County Sheriff’s deputies put out a request to neighboring counties to locate Talancon who was driving the companies yellow moving van. The van was believed to have damage to the front-end of the vehicle. He was detained and held in Woods Cross later Friday night, by the Woods Cross Police Department.

Cache County Sheriff’s detectives transported Talancon back to Logan early Saturday morning. He was booked into the Cache County Jail on one count of aggravated assault. Other charges are pending. The investigation is still underway.
