There is a good chance that the issue of a new North Valley Landfill near Clarkston may be settled Tuesday at the Cache County Councili meeting. An item on the agenda for the 5 p.m. meeting is a request for a conditional use permit for the landfill.
County Executive Lynn Lemon says he can’t speak for the council but he does believe the permit will be approved. He does have one recommendation to make to them before the vote, however.
“I would probably recommend to them that they take one route out and a different route back so they’re not impacting just one route, so their impact is spread out,” Lemon says.
Although the landfill is in the county Logan City will be managing landfill operations as it is with the Logan Landfill now. Many Clarkston-area residents have opposed the new landfill location.
