Normally, there are two Cache County Council meetings during the month of December and those are held on the first and second Tuesdays. County Executive Lynn Lemon says, however, it looks like the council will not be wrapping up a new budget until after the first of the year. The executive says this year, council members want department heads to come back to tell them how the two percent more money for pay increases will be spent.
“That will be different than it’s been done in the past. The council wanted to be more involved in the budget process and frankly, I think it’s very good for them to be part of it,” said Lemon.
He also added the budget will probably not be wrapped up until after the first of the year. Areas still not resolved are pay hikes for sheriff’s deputies and for appraisers in the assessor’s office.
