Community meal planned for those who need warm food, companionship

Everyone is invited to attend the 4th annual Loaves and Fishes Community Holiday Meal Saturday. The non-denominational meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Logan, 178 West Center.

Amy Anderson, a member of the Loaves and Fishes Community Meal Board, says her group is looking forward to seeing a lot of people there.

“It’s a meal that is for everybody in our community,” she explains, “those in need of a warm meal to fill what might be an empty stomach, for those of us who at this time of the year are reaching out for that warmth and companionship that so often, unfortunately, many of us miss during the holiday season and throughout the year.

“We will be gathering beginning at 11:30 until 1 o’clock and be serving roast beef, turkey, mash potatoes, stuffing, all the trimmings.”

Anderson says Santa Claus will be there for the children and the Cache County Volunteer Center is donating 100 toys to be distributed.

Anderson says this is special but community meals are served the first and third Saturday of the month at the Presbyterian Church. She says many local organizations and individuals help make the community meal program successful.
