Motorcycle fatality in Logan Canyon

Crews at a fatal motorcycle accident Friday afternoon in Logan Canyon, US-89. The accident occurred at 1:30 p.m. near milepost 468.

LOGAN — Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of the 31-year-old Bountiful man, killed in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon in Logan Canyon, US-89.

Lt. Lee Perry said Craig Allen died in the accident around 1:30 p.m. near milepost 468.

<span>The 2002 black Honda motorcycle that Allen was driving went off the roadway and up the hillside.  It came to rest in the bar-pit and caught fire.  </span>

<span>Perry said Allen was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  </span>

<span>The accident was reported by a Division of Wildlife Resources officer who was driving eastbound through the canyon and noticed the fire. The DWR officer called for help and attempted to render first-aid to the driver. There were no witnesses to the accident.</span>

Perry said speed, mechanical or driver error are all factors that could have caused the crash.

The accident is under investigation.
