LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue were called to a snowmobile accident Sunday afternoon, near Tony Grove Lake,

Lt. Doyle Peck said a 10-year-old boy from Providence was riding his father’s Ski-Doo 800 snowmobile. He failed to see a steep drop-off and stop, falling about 60 feet.

The juvenile suffered injuries to his hip, left arm and a puncture wound to his abdomen.

The accident was reported by another snowmobiler who was able to get cell phone coverage and call 911.

Peck said the caller reported the accident occurred approximately a mile west of the lake, near a ridge.

Two medical helicopters were also paged to the accident. AirMed was able to land near the scene and treat the victim. A Lifeflight helicopter was canceled after it was determined the victim would not have to be hoisted from the accident scene.

The boy was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake.

The accident was reported around 1:17 p.m.

Sheriff’s deputies closed the road to Tony Grove Lake to give Search and Rescue crews space to set up a staging area.
