Man arrested for sexually abusing child

Daniel Rivera-Arceo, 60, arrested and charged with sodomy on a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child and attempted sexual abuse of a child, all are first-degree felonies. He also faces two additional charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child from another case.

LOGAN — A 60-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a child made his first appearance in court Tuesday.

Daniel Rivera-Arceo was arraigned in 1st District Court by closed circuit video from the Cache County Jail, where he has been since being arrested Friday by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. He is being charged with sodomy on a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child and attempted sexual abuse of a child, all are first-degree felonies. He also faces two additional charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child from another case.

Court records show the abuse reportedly occurred between September 2012 and February 2013. Prosecutors are trying to determine if the two cases are duplicates.

Rivera-Arceo is being held without bail. He is scheduled to appear again in court November 4.
