LOGAN — A 23-year-old Preston, Idaho woman was arrested Monday after appearing in 1st District Court while overdosed on prescription medication.
Cecilee Cindy Bennett’s speech was slurred as she appeared on a felony charge of driving under the influence. While speaking to the court, Judge Kevin Allen asked her, if she had been drinking?
Bennett denied she was drunk and was ordered to take a sobriety test. After refusing to cooperate, officers from the Drug Enforcement Task Force were called to the courtroom to assist probation officers.
They later told the court; Bennett had high levels of both CNS depressants and CNS stimulants in her body.
Judge Allen ordered Bennett to be arrested saying he was trying to protect her and the public.
Bennett was originally arrested in October and charged with driving under the influence, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of driving without an interlock device and operating a vehicle without a license or registration. She said the last eight years of her life have been miserable.
Bennett is being held without bail in the Cache County Jail. She’s been ordered to appear again in court January 26 and could face up to five-years in prison.
