Man arrested after being tased in Lewiston

Ryan Frazier, 22, arrested Sunday afternoon after being tased.

LOGAN — A deputy used a taser Sunday afternoon, in order to arrest a 22-year-old Lewiston man.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said the deputy and an officer with Smithfield City Police were reporting to a domestic dispute at a home near 566 South 1600 West. The complainant said a fight had turned physical, between a man and his mother.

When the deputy and officer arrived at the home they found Ryan Frazier in the front yard. He was reportedly psychotic, out of control and would not comply with orders.

Peterson said the taser was used to subdue Frazier and take him into custody. Paramedics were later called to treat him and transport him to the hospital. He was later booked into the Cache County Jail on an initial felony offense of aggravated assault and several misdemeanors including assault of an officer and assault against a health care employee.

Peterson said even after being tased, Frazier continued to fight against the deputy and officer, swinging his arms and kicking his legs. He was also combative with emergency room personnel. No one was seriously injured by him.

Frazier’s family has reported problems with him before. No bail has been set and formal charges are pending.
