Jade M. Ballif, 26, who pleaded guilty to eight felony charges of felony, theft and forgery.

LOGAN — A 27-year-old Layton woman, originally facing 35 charges of felony theft, burglary, forgery and other misdemeanor charges, has been sentenced to jail and drug rehabilitation.

Jade M. Ballif appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. She accepted a plea deal in February, pleading guilty to eight charges.

Ballif stole heirlooms and other items from her family. She then pawned the items for money to support her drug habit.

Judge Kevin Allen sentenced Ballif to six-months in the Cache County Jail. She was also ordered to undergo Drug Court, a program that requires weekly counseling, drug testing and rehabilitation.

Ballif cried as Judge Allen told her this was her last chance of cleaning up her life.
