Christmas Fantasy tradition continues at MCHS

A longtime tradition at Mountain Crest High School continues this week, with a combined performance of the school’s choir, orchestra and band in “Christmas Fantasy.”  The presentation takes place in the MCHS auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Setting an imaginative children’s story to Christmas music, the event is billed as a “great first-time introduction of instrumental music which will delight all children, young and old.”

Tickets are priced at $3 for students, children, and seniors, $6 for adults and $20 for families. A heartwarming tale for the whole family, this year’s story answers the question, “Will the magical toy shop help Johnny and Lissy find the perfect gift in time for Christmas?”

“Christmas Fantasy is a great Mountain Crest tradition because it brings the kid out in all of us with a fun story and great music,” said DonNel Lamb, Mountain Crest’s orchestra director.  “It is a great way to introduce kids to classical music with a lot of tunes they know and recognize.  It is also a great time to bring the band and orchestra together as a great learning experience.”

Lamb notes that Christmas Fantasy 2016 will expand its musical repertoire this year with the additions of choir and guitar to the program. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mountain Crest High School Music Department.
