Search & Rescue called to help injured snowmobiler

LOGAN — Search and rescue crews were called to Franklin Basin Sunday afternoon to help an injured snowmobiler, after he struck a tree while riding in the Steep Canyon area.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said initially deputies were told the man was unconscious and needing CPR. A medical helicopter and search and rescue teams were paged to the scene. When they arrived on site, they found the man conscious and alert.

Locke said he reportedly was suffering injuries to his head, neck and shoulders. None of the injuries were life-threatening. He was flown by helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital for treatment.
