LOGAN — A 42-year-old Nibley woman, Terry G. Gleed, accused of stealing more than $6000 in merchandise from her roommate was sentenced to jail.
Gleed appeared in 1st District Court Monday, after previously pleading guilty to burglary, amended to a third-degree felony.
Cache County Attorney James Swink said the case marked a sad example of where the victim offered to take Gleed into their home to help her, and was then taken advantage of.
Gleed continued to deny the allegations, even though she pleaded guilty in February. She claimed that the items were not intentionally taken and that she was just trying to fix them for the victim. She told the court, she had been trying to behave and stay out of trouble.
Defense attorney Bryan Galloway told the court a presentence report, prepared by probation officers, suggested that his client may suffer from kleptomania.
Judge Kevin Allen sentenced Gleed to 30-days in jail and pay back the victim. He also ordered her to take part in moral recognition therapy classes.
