On March 29, Logan Mayor Craig Petersen said during KVNU’s For the People program that he is proud of accomplishments made during his term in office, but he’d like to be around to see completion of one major project—a new library. He said things are moving along, and an architect will soon be selected.
“That process with the architect will be one which will involve substantial public input,” Petersen said. “People will have an opportunity to come and say, ‘In a new library/community center, this is what we’d like to see,’ and so we’re embarking on that. We’ve identified about three-quarters of our projected budget, and so we have some additional fundraising to do. We have, I think, some good leads and some good opportunities on that.”
While the mayor is trying to move the library project forward quickly, he fears that not much will happen before his term ends on Jan. 7, 2018. He said there’s a lot of bidding to be done, and he wants the public to be involved with each stage of the planning process. Given so many factors to be considered, Petersen is uncertain about how much progress can be made before fall, but he’s trying to move the project forward as quickly as possible.
