Utah unemployment rate at 3.1 percent for 5th month straight

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — For the fifth month in a row, Utah’s jobless rate has stayed at 3.1 percent, something state economists say is near what’s considered full employment for the state.

Numbers released Friday by the state Department of Workforce Services show about 47,700 Utah residents were unemployed but looking for work last month.

While Utah’s unemployment rate held steady in March, the national unemployment rate continued its recent trend downward, falling two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.5 percent.
