It’s coming soon—the Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre’s 2017 season. In fact, Operations Manager Gary Griffin said residents living near the Dansante will probably hear some beautiful music since rehearsals have already started. He said about 85 orchestra members are coming the second week in June, but the singers and technical people are already here.
Griffin said there will be six different shows this year, more than ever before.
“We’re doing four in the Eccles and two in the Utah,” he said. “At the Eccles, we’re doing ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame,’ ‘The Pirates of Penzance,’ ‘Madama Butterfly’ and ‘The Music Man.’ And at the Utah, we’re doing ‘Rex,’ which is the story of King Henry VIII, and that will star Michael Ballam. And then we’re doing ‘Seussical the Musical.’”
Griffin said Vanessa Ballam will star as Marian the Librarian in “Seussical.” He said tickets are selling fast and are available at the Dansante Box Office, located at 59 S 100 W in Logan.
