Crews have begun working long days in an effort to complete the repairs caused by the early spring floods in Cache Valley. But Josh Runhaar, head of Cache County’s Development Services, said when the work is completed the roads will be in great shape, great enough to hold up for many years.
Members of the Cache County Council on Tuesday asked Runhaar about the Mendon Road and he admitted most of the calls his office gets have to do with that.
“We’ve now replaced five culvert pipes along that stretch of road that were damaged or rotted out. Whittakers is now moving in to the site (Wednesday) or Thursday to start working on the box culvert.
“We’re still hoping to keep that mid-September timeline in place. We are still wrangling over a few utilities to get them relocated and moved.”
He said some of the pipes have been salvaged during the clean up and they have been sold off to farmers at salvage rates.
