Daines ‘very pleased’ with primary election results

She captured 61.7 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary election and now Logan City council member Holly Daines will be facing political newcomer Brian Seamons in the race to become Logan City’s next mayor.

Seamons received 28.1 percent of the vote but Daines says she expects a tough race and she plans to work hard from now until the end of the campaign.

After the votes were counted, Daines told those gathered at city hall that she is grateful for the chance she now has to move up from the council seat to serve as mayor of Logan.

“Now we’ll work hard for the general election,” Daines said. “I’ve just had such a really great experience working with people over the last eight years as I’ve been on the council.

“I hope I get the opportunity to continue working with the citizens in the future. We’ll see what the general election brings but I’m very pleased about the numbers tonight.”

Daines and Seamons defeated two other candidates: Kyle Barney and Hayden Nielson.
