Logan City has a new fire chief. Mayor Craig Petersen says Brad Hannig has been offered and has accepted the position of Logan City Fire Chief, pending formal ratification by the city council at its September 5th meeting.
He will assume his duties as chief on September 25.
Hannig was in Logan Monday and said he is extremely honored and excited to be in Logan and to share his years of experience and training. Chief Hannig was born in Las Vegas, grew up in Logandale, Nevada and has lived in St. George for the last 12 years. He began his fire and emergency services career in 1990 as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.
Hannig joined the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue unit in 1992 and worked there for many years as an AEMT, firefighter, engineer, captain and battalion chief. Most recently he has been serving as the Fire Chief of Ivins City Fire and Rescue in Southern Utah since April.
“All of these have given me a tremendous amount of experience and opportunity to, hopefully, bring some skills, quality,” Hannig said, “and some leadership to Logan and help make them be better and improve their service delivery.”
He has a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University. Mayor Petersen says Logan City is fortunate to have a new fire chief with Brad Hannig’s experience and personal qualities. He says that during the interview process he was impressed with the new fire chief’s commitment and leadership skills.
