LOGAN, Utah — Utah State’s Dillon Maggard has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Athlete of the Week, it was announced Monday by the organization.
It is the first national weekly award for Maggard in his Utah State career.
Last week, the senior from Kirkland, Wash., won his second race of the year as he placed first out of 359 runners in the men’s 8-kilometer gold race at the Lehigh-hosted Paul Short Run last weekend with a personal-best time of 23:27. Utah State also won the team championship with 119 points as it defeated No. 17 Georgetown, which had 167 points. Overall, 40 teams competed in the race.
Utah State is back in action on Friday, Oct. 6, when the Aggies host the Steve T. Reeder Memorial at 3 p.m.
