It’s the Weekend – March 1, 2018

Everything from a cowboy rendezvous, a Bootmobile, some great Aggie athletic events and even a garden expo are all going on this weekend in Logan and throughout Cache Valley.

All week representatives from the <a href=”http://cachevalleycowboyrendezvous.com” target=”_blank”>Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous</a> have been visiting local schools, and now this weekend the festival really kicks into high gear at Mountain Crest High School. The rendezvous features live music, storytelling, cowboy poetry, guitar workshops, western dancing and more. The highlight will be Saturday night with a concert by Billy Dean.

Thursday morning the L.L. Bean <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/144610092890249/” target=”_blank”>Bootmobile visits USU</a> (yes, it’s a car that looks like a giant boot). L.L. Bean has partnered with USU’s Outdoor Product Design and Development program. Check out the Bootmobile, play games and win prizes Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Taggart Student Center.

Also on Thursday, USU’s Dining Services presents the <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/560679757624337/” target=”_blank”>5th annual Campus Cook-Off</a>. Sample student recipes as they compete from 10 to Noon inside the Taggart Student Center.

On Friday, the Cache County Republican Party hosts their annual <a href=”http://cachegop.com/event/2018-lincoln-day-dinner/” target=”_blank”>Lincoln Day Dinner</a>. Meet and greet local and state elected officials, as well as candidates for local offices. The keynote speaker will be Timothy Ballard, founder and CEO of <a href=”http://ourrescue.org/” target=”_blank”>Operation Underground Railroad</a>. The Lincoln Day Dinner is from 6-9 p.m. at the Riverwoods Conference Center.

<a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/141028560021237/” target=”_blank”>USU Gymnastics takes on BYU</a> in the Smith Spectrum Friday night at 7. It’s a Breast Cancer Awareness “Pink” night. The first 100 fans through the doors receive a free pink shirt. Wear pink and your admission is only $1.

In the mood for comedy this weekend? Don’t miss <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/pg/theanticsimprov/about/?ref=page_internal” target=”_blank”>The Antics</a> comedy troupe this Friday. It’s family-friendly improvisational comedy at the Dansante Theatre and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Count down the days until spring at the Anderson’s Seed and Garden <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/560679757624337/” target=”_blank”>“Spring &amp; Garden Expo”</a> Saturday from 10-4. Mingle with local growers and you can sample yummy food.

Learn about the role of storytelling in societies and how to craft your own great stories at <a href=”https://anthropology.usu.edu/museum/communityconnections” target=”_blank”>The Art of Storytelling at USU’s Museum of Anthropology</a>. The program is free and designed to be entertaining for the whole family. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Come cheer on the <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/126893394676101/” target=”_blank”>Utah State men’s basketball</a> team for their last game of the season Saturday night. The Aggies take on UNLV in the Spectrum at 7 p.m.

Complete your weekend by attending <a href=”http://cachevalleycowboyrendezvous.com/cowboy-church/” target=”_blank”>Cowboy Church</a> at the American West Heritage Center on Sunday. The non-denominational program begins at 9 a.m. and completes the busy weekend of Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous.
