This week we’ve got an early edition of “It’s the Weekend” because of a special event going on Wednesday at MayMoes in North Logan.
After a member of our staff lost his daughter to suicide, the fine staff at MayMoes volunteered to do something to help support this family and support suicide prevention efforts in Cache Valley. On Wednesday, 20% of all proceeds at MayMoes, located at 2500 North Main inside the Tesoro gas station, will benefit suicide prevention efforts in Cache Valley.
There are also a lot of other events taking place this weekend throughout Cache Valley, like on Thursday the Utah Symphony travels to Logan and will perform at the Daines Concert Hall at 8 p.m.
The Polynesian Student Union at USU hosts their annual Spring Luau on Thursday. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Taggart Student Union Ballroom and all are invited to attend.
Four Seasons Theatre Company presents Disney’s Jungle Book Kids Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 1 p.m. The cast is made up entirely of children and they perform at Cedar Ridge Elementary School.
You can see USU Opera’s production of Henry Purcell’s beloved opera Dido and Aeneas Thursday and Friday at 7:30, and Saturday at 2 p.m. The performances will take place in the Morgan Theatre in the Chase Fine Arts Center.
The USU Theatre Arts department also presents “The (Obsolete) Unkindness of Ravens” by Shawn Fisher. The performances are Tuesday through Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Chase Fine Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre.
This weekend is Earth Day and multiple events will be taking place at Utah State University on Friday to celebrate. Various events happen throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Cache County School District Celebration of the Arts is a family-friendly event which spotlights student artwork, student-produced films, and student performances. The event begins at 5 p.m. in Green Canyon High School.
The Towne Singers perform at the Logan Tabernacle Friday at 7 p.m. It’s a free concert presented by the Logan Tabernacle Concert and Lecture Series.
The USU Symphonic Band presents its final Spring concert this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Daines Concert Hall. The 90-member band will perform numbers from various composers and the concert is free.
Start Saturday with a 5K or 1 mile run at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. The race is sponsored by Addict II Athlete and begins at 9 a.m.
You have multiple opportunities to hear songs of praise this weekend. The Combined Institute Choirs perform ASK – Aquire Spiritual Knowledge. They perform Saturday and Sunday at the USU LDS Institute at 7 p.m.
The First Presbyterian Church in Logan is also presenting Songs of Praise and Supplication Saturday at 7 p.m. The musical styles will range from hymns and gospel, to classical and folk. The concert is for all ages and is free.
April means spring, and spring means a lot of different things for Utah’s weather. Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art’s Family Art Day on Saturday will explore this theme through works in their collection that depict or evoke weather conditions. The fun begins at 11 a.m. at the Merrill-Cazier Library.
The Hyrum Saddle Club is holding their 2018 New Member Banquet on Friday at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Hyrum Civic Center.
