It’s the Weekend – May 10-13, 2018

Happy Mother’s Day this weekend! There are a lot of great things going on in Cache Valley to celebrate this beautiful time of the year, including Health Days in Smithfield, Broadway-style shows, and the return of the Gardeners Market in downtown Logan.

Does mom like gems, or crystals? The Cache Rock and Gem Club presents “2018: A Rock Odyssey” this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Bridgerland Technical College West Campus.

Or how about a Broadway-style show? The national Broadway tour of “Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” comes to Logan Thursday. The 2014 Tony Award winning show will be performed at the Ellen Eccles Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

Speaking of Broadway, the Imperial Glee Club performs their 102nd annual Spring Concert with “On Broadway” Thursday night at 7:30 in the Utah Theatre.

Standout Aggie basketball player Jalen Moore will be sharing his story of anxiety and depression Thursday night at the Logan High Auditorium. Moore was days away from signing a contract to play in the NBA when he backed out. “The Toughest Call of My Life” begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

If mom likes history, then take her to the 149th commemoration of the Golden Spike. Thursday, May 10th is the anniversary of the completion of the nation’s first transcontinental railroad in Promontory.

The Westminster Bell Choir performs sacred, secular and just plain fun music at their Spring concert Friday at the Logan Tabernacle. The concert is free and begins at 7 p.m.

Maybe mom would like some fresh flowers or hanging baskets. The Mountain Crest High School greenhouse saleis this Friday and Saturday.

Or does mom need a cute new kitten? The Cache Humane Society is hosting a Purrs and Paws Kitten ShowerFriday at 3 p.m.

The Cache Children’s Choir is celebrating their 30th anniversary concert Friday. It will be at the Daines Concert Hall at 7 p.m. and everyone who has ever sung with the choir over the years is invited to participate.

Does mom like to get out and run? CAPSA is hosting two fun runs this weekend, and both begin at the Willow Park Center Stage. The first 5K is Friday at 7 p.m. and the second is Saturday at 9 a.m.

Smithfield Health Days is also hosting a variety of activities this weekend, including several races on Saturday. Choose between a 10K, a 5K or the Mayor’s Mile. All of the races begin at James Mack Memorial Park at 7:30 a.m. The Health Days Parade down Main Street begins at 10 a.m. and activities will be taking place throughout the day at Forrester Acres Park, concluding with fireworks at dark.

Does mom like monster trucks? The Monster Truck Insanity Tour makes a stop in Tremonton at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Maybe mom would love fresh produce or local arts and crafts? This weekend marks the return of the Gardeners Market in historic downtown Logan. The market opens at 9 a.m. at the Historic Cache County Courthouse.

If mom has a big heart and wants to help others, attend the first annual CV Hope Walk. It will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Green Canyon High School’s football field. The goal of Hope Squad is to reduce self-destructive behavior and youth suicide by training, building and creating change in schools and communities.

If mom loves nature and animals, take her to the Stokes Nature Center on Sunday. Canyon Conversations Animal Mothers celebrates nature and animal mothers starting at 4 p.m.

The LGBTQ+ Prom is Saturday at Crumb Brothers Artisan Bread. The free event is open to youth and their dates from ages 14-20.
