Five candidates file to fill Providence City Council vacancy

PROVIDENCE – Five residents have filed applications to fill the vacancy on the city council, according to City Administrator Skarlet Bankhead. The candidates will be interviewed by the current city council during the city council meeting on Tuesday, May 22.

“I anticipate they will make their selection that night,” Bankhead said.

The selected candidate will fill the position vacated by former council member Jeff Baldwin, who passed away April 25.

The five candidates are Laura Banda, Robert Perry, Roland Cecil, Brent Fresz and Alex Bearnson. The selected council member will fill the position through the 2019 elections.
