LOGAN – He retired from teaching last year and now Larry Williams is running for a seat on the Logan City School Board. Two other candidates have filed for the position: Daniel Kent and Sara Menlove Doutre.
Williams said it has been very hard to sever the ties because both he and his wife, also a retired teacher, loved what they did during their teaching years.
“So I was looking for way to stay involved and contribute because I have a perspective that would be beneficial in carrying Logan City School District forward,” he said. “We’re facing, in our district, a lot of unique challenges. We’ve also enjoyed a lot of success in the past that I would like to build upon.”
Williams said he feels his ideas would be helpful in dealing with the challenges. Among them is the fact that the district is “landlocked” and some students who live in the district go to other schools.
