LOGAN — A 30-year-old Summit, Washington man has been charged with sexting a Richmond teenager. Larry Ketchum was arrested and transferred to the Cache County Jail Friday, after a warrant was issued for his arrest in March.
Ketchum appeared in 1st District Court by video from jail, Tuesday afternoon. He’s been charged with enticing a minor over the internet, a second-degree felony, dealing materials harmful to a minor and distribution of pornography, both third-degree felonies.
According to the arrest warrant, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating Ketchum, after the victim’s father surrendered a tablet that the 13-year-old girl had been using to allegedly correspond with the suspect. The messages were graphic in nature and included pictures of the suspect’s genitals.
Investigators later used the victim’s social media account to pose as the girl to communicate with Ketchum. He again sent sexually explicit pictures and asked for similar photos. Throughout the conversations, investigators made it clear that the victim was underage.
Investigators tracked Ketchum’s social media account and cell phone to a residence in Washington. Records allegedly showed he also attempted to solicit nude photographs from several other young girls.
During Tuesday’s court appearance, Ketchum was read the charges against him. He was assigned a public defender and ordered to appear again in court October 15. He is being held in jail without bail and could face up to 15-years in prison if convicted.
