Potter believes his experience with local government helps him stand out

Utah legislature

He is in his first term as a state representative for House District 3 and now Republican Val Potter is hoping to be elected to a second term. Potter has served in other important positions of government, including as a member of the North Logan City Council then as its mayor, and a member of the Cache County Council. Potter believes he has been successful at each position where he has served.

“I feel that my first two years have been very successful,” says Potter. “I’ve passed seven bills. I’m on some great committees that are making a big impact on Cache County, as well as on the state of Utah.

“I’m not ready to leave now and I want to continue to serve the people of Cache Valley because I think I have something to offer. The other thing is, coming from 14 years of service at the city level – North Logan City as a council member and mayor – then six years on the Cache County Council, is great experience that is very necessary and very needed.”

Potter is being challenged in the election by Democratic candidate Marilyn Mecham of Smithfield.
