LOGAN — A possible plea deal is being negotiated for Tyler R. Miles. The 49-year-old Smithfield man is charged with molesting a young girl.

Miles appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He previously waived his preliminary hearing after being charged with two counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

Defense attorney Jeanne Campbell said Miles had just completed a psycho-sexual evaluation and prosecutors have made an offer to settle the case. She asked the court for more time to work out details of the plea agreement.

Judge Kevin Allen allowed for more time and ordered Miles to appear again in court December 10.

Prosecutors allege Miles sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl, touching her inappropriately around January 2018. The victim was allegedly an acquaintance of the suspect.

Miles is currently out of jail after posting $75,000 bail. He could face up to life in prison.
