Local food pantry in need of donations

FILE - Logan City organized and delivered approximately 1,000 pounds of food donated to the Cache Community Food Pantry from students leaving Utah State University for the summer.

Hundreds of residents in Cache Valley will not have enough to feed their families this holiday season. The Cache Community Food Pantry is a great resource for those who struggle making ends meet and putting food on the table.

According to Director Matthew Whitaker, November through December is the busiest time of year for the non-profit. He says the pantry will feed one thousand families over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and they need your help.

“We want to make sure we can send these families homes with a turkey, your stuffing, your cranberry sauce, anything you can think of for your traditional Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner.”

Whitaker says turkey donations are great, but if you are unable to shop they are more than happy to do it for you. “We want to make it as easy for you as possible,” he says.

The pantry accepts food, cash, checks and credit cards. This year they have implemented a way to donate by text. You can text the word ‘foodpantry’ to 41444. Whitaker says money donated to the pantry can go a lot farther than if people go to the store to buy food, themselves.
