Heather Dixon Wallwork is a musician, author and former Disney animator who lives north of Salt Lake City in West Point.
How does a Utah girl get a job with Disney?
“You draw everyday,” Wallwork explained. “I always wanted to be a storyboard artist, that was why dream. And I ended up going to BYU majoring in animation and working in the industry for awhile and it took a lot of time and a lot of practice.
“And eventually I was able to make it to Disney and work with some really talented people.”
Her third book was released last month, “The Enchanted Sonata”. She said the story is The Nutcracker and she has mixed it with The Pied Piper.
“In the story, the villain – who is the Pied Piper – uses music as magic. And he is able to enchant a lot of people and things with his music,” she continued. “And Clara, the main character, has to work with the Nutcracker to figure out how to stop him.”
She has illustrated for many popular franchises including LucasFilm, Marvel and Pixar.
In addition to her new release, she authored two novels published by Greenwillow Books/Harper Collins: “Entwined” and “Illusionarium.”
When she isn’t playing the flute or piano, or writing her next book, she is drawing her all-time favorite character, Mary Poppins.
