The Logan City council has been discussing a ban on single-use disposable plastic bags that are used at retail stores, especially supermarkets. Council member Herm Olsen introduced the ordinance during the December 18th council meeting.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday, new city council member Jess Bradfield said he was blindsided by the proposed ban and first learned about it through the media. He said he cannot go along with it as it is currently proposed.
“We are Logan, inside a valley of cities. We have two Macey’s, one is in Logan, one is right outside the city. And if you don’t want to go to the one in Logan, you have the opportunity to go to the one right outside of the city if it’s convenient for you. And we need those tax dollars,” Bradfield said.
He indicated he has great respect for Olsen and views him as a mentor, but feels that if they want to do this, it should really be a countywide effort. Olsen did reach out to KVNU on Thursday and said a public hearing on the issue will not be held this month as a council member is out of the country right now.
He said it will likely be held in early February. Olsen is scheduled to be a guest on an upcoming For the People program to talk about the proposed ban.

We absolutely need to ban plastic bags. It takes not effort to take reusable bags with you to stores. We need to think about the health of this earth and this is one easy way to begin.
This is a big project go try and stopped. Texas now charges for your paper bagsto carry your items in.so this is where you take in your own bags that you have collected over the years Cloth ones that is.
How about no, I like my plastic bags a reuse all of them, sometimes multiple times
