LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Logan man suspected of raping several young girls over the past few years. Trisden Smith was booked Monday into the Cache County Jail, where he is being held on $200,000 bail.
Sheriff’s Lt. Doyle Peck said investigators learned about the offenses after the 11-year-old alleged victim told her mother about being raped. The crimes had reportedly been taking place over several years.
The parents of the girl, who live outside of Logan, allegedly confronted Smith at his trailer home Monday.
Court records show, Smith was arraigned in 1st District Court Thursday afternoon, appearing by video from jail. He was assigned a public defender and ordered to appear again in court next Tuesday.
Prosecutors with the Cache County Attorney’s Office have charged Smith with one count of rape of a child; nine counts of sodomy on a child; and eleven counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child; all first-degree felonies. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Peck said investigators believe there are more victims, possibly five. All of them were reportedly acquaintances of Smith.
