It’s the Weekend: Feb. 7-10, 2019

Theater productions, athletic events, concerts and even a chocolate festival are all taking place this weekend in Logan and Cache Valley. We’ve got all the details for you in our latest edition of It’s the Weekend!

Noises Off

Noises Off, the funniest farce ever written, is being performed by Cache Theatre company in the historic Utah Theatre this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and next Monday.

Beauty and the Beast

One of Disney’s most beloved stories comes to life on stage at Green Canyon High School. Beauty and the Beast will be performed Thursday, Friday, Saturday and next Monday, then again next weekend.

A Lie of the Mind

Another theater option this weekend is the Caine College of the Arts production of A Lie of the Mind. This tale of family dysfunction and love is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Caine Lyric Theatre.

Love Is A Many Splendored Thing

Valentine’s Day is next week, but you can get a jump start on it this Friday with Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. Enjoy an evening of love songs presented by The Relative Voices and the New Horizons Orchestra, Friday night at 7 in the Logan Tabernacle.

Family Pops Concert

Travel on a spectacular musical journey with Conductor Craig, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike. American Festival Chorus and Orchestra presents “She’ll be Coming ‘Round the Mountain Family Pops Concert” this Saturday. The concert begins at 7:30 in the Daines Concert Hall.

Chess Tournament

Do you play chess? If your student plays chess, a Kindergarten through 12th grade chess tournament is Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. It’s open to all students and abilities; and, there are cash prizes and trophies for each grade level.

USU Women’s Sports

Since we’re talking about competitions, USU Gymnastics hosts Boise State in the Spectrum Friday night. And the Spectrum will host USU women’s basketball Saturday as they take on San Diego State at 2 p.m.

CROWBAR Backcountry Ski Race

Have you ever tried cross country skiing? The CROWBAR backcountry ski race is Saturday at the Swan Flat Winter Trailhead near Beaver Mountain. CROWBAR is one of the only ski mountaineering races held 100% outside the bounds of any ski area and begins at 9 a.m.

Ted Seeholzer Memorial Giant Slalom Ski Race

If you prefer skis that go way faster, you might want to participate in the Ted Seeholzer Memorial Giant Slalom ski race at Beaver Mountain on Saturday. Test your downhill racing skills on skis or snowboard. Registration is from 8:45-10 a.m., with races starting at 11.

Chocolate Festival

The 32nd annual Chocolate Festival is this Saturday at the Riverwoods Conference Center. It includes public tasting, live and silent auctions, and it’s a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood.

Mardi Gras at USU

It’s a big party at USU Saturday night as they celebrate Mardi Gras. It starts at 9 p.m. and includes casino games, dancing, Derek Hughes from America’s Got Talent and a whole lot more.
