With snow melting and the weather finally feeling like spring, Logan City is reminding residents it is that time of year for the annual Spring Cleanup.
Between now and April 15th, Logan City residents can put green waste on the park strip in front of their homes and the Public Works Department will pick it up.
Green waste includes materials such as lawn clippings, leaves and branches.
“We are trying to assist residents in cleaning up their yards,” according to Jed Al-Imari, Public Works Division Manager.
“It works out well for the citizens and the city to try and help keep the whole community a little cleaner. It pays off in the long run,” he said.
Tips for green waste disposal:
Material cannot be longer than 6 feet or bigger than 12 inches in diameter, and cannot total more than 12 cubic yards. Please, no large stumps.
To help crews and equipment work more efficiently, please do not pile green waste by fixtures like fire hydrants, water meters, mailboxes or trees.
Please park off the street as much as possible. Vehicles prohibit equipment from reaching the debris.
Please be aware that during Spring Cleanup each street is cleared of green waste piles one time only.
Please do not put any green waste in the gutter or in the street.
If there is any garbage or other debris in the green waste it will not be picked up.
Materials other than green waste, or green waste put out after April 15th, will be the responsibility of the resident.
“There’s a lot of people that do not have trucks and equipment,” added Al-Imari, “so this is a great service that Logan City is willing to provide.”
Al-Imari is asking for the public’s patience. He said it usually takes about two weeks for the trucks to get to everyone in the city.
