February 24, 1932 – May 4, 2019
Shirley Jean Gudgel Baerwaldt, age 87, resident of the Sheridan Assisted Living in South Jordan, passed away peacefully on 4 May 2019, from causes incident to age.
Shirley was born on 24 Feb 1932 in Stillwater, Payne, Oklahoma to Daniel Jacob (Cecil) Gudgel and Opal Elva Yancey Gudgel. Her parents divorced when she was very young and her mother remarried to Samuel Talmage Lundy. Sam was the dad who raised her. He was her hero. She grew up with 3 sisters, BarKay, Sally, and Judy and one brother, Jack who preceded her in death.
On the 8 March 1949 she married Everett Lewis Baerwaldt. Over time, 6 children joined the family, Debra, David, Darrel, Darcie, Duane and Darin. To that number were added spouses, 32 grandchildren, over 50 great-grandchildren and at least one great-great-grandchild.
Her 4 great loves were her God and her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, her family, animals and crafting.
We express our gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Sheridan who attended to her many needs.
Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Cache, Utah on 11 May 2019
