LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested an Idaho man, suspected of sexually abusing a young child and sexting with a teenage girl. Kyle E. Joe was booked into the Cache County Jail Tuesday afternoon, where he was held on $300,000 bond.
Lt. Doyle Peck said deputies began investigating after the teenage girl claimed she had exchanged photographs with the suspect. The Caldwell, Idaho, man was allegedly an acquaintance of the victim.
When deputies interviewed Joe, he admitted to sexting with the underage girl in 2017 and allowed them to view his cellphone. He also confessed to sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl around the same time.
Joe was arraigned in 1st District Court Thursday afternoon, appearing by video from jail. He has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and six counts of dealing in material harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony.
Judge Thomas Willmore ordered Joe to appear again in court Monday afternoon.
Peck explained that there was a lot more found on Joe’s phone than just the 10 counts he was charged with.
Joe remains in jail and could face up to life in prison if convicted.
