LOGAN — Police have arrested a 43-year-old Logan man accused of physically abusing a teenage boy. Judd L. Laffoon was booked into the Cache County Jail Wednesday, after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
According to an affidavit from the USU Police Department, Laffoon is suspected of fighting with the juvenile on the evening of May 13. The report states that the man grabbed the boy by the shoulders, threw him on the floor, and then placed him in a “wrestling hold,” while taunting him. He also struck the alleged victim on the left side of his head, while he had the boy pinned on the ground.
The boy reported the alleged abuse to a Cache County Sheriff’s deputy, who serves as school resource officer at the victim’s high school. They notified USU Police officers because it occurred in an apartment on campus.
The victim was later checked by a nurse at the Children’s Justice Center. They found the boy’s injuries were consistent with his statement of being thrown to the floor and being hit in the head.
Lafoon has been charged in 1st District Court with one count of child abuse, a third-degree felony. His formal arraignment has not been scheduled yet.
Lafoon was released from jail Wednesday after posting a $5,000 bond. He could face up to five-years in prison if convicted.

issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Thanks!
I know the boy they’re talking about and it’s his 16 year old son who is mentally ill and mentally unstable. The USU police had no physical evidence other than what his son said who was later discovered to have skipped taking his prescribed medications from Bear River Mental Health for over a month. Stories like this need real reporter investigations rather than spitting out what the police report says.
