The Macey’s grocery store in Logan will be shutting its doors on July 19. According to Associated Foods, employees and services will be consolidated into the Providence location alone. According to a release, most employees working at the Logan location will be able to relocate to other Associated Food Stores locations.
“We’ve spent several months looking at ways to ensure the continued success and profitable future of our company amidst the rampant changes in retail across the U.S. and the markets we serve,” said David Rice, president of Macey’s in a press release. “From this deliberation, we made this very difficult decision.”
Associated Foods had been operating the Macey’s store at 49 East 400 North since the spring of 2014. Before that, it operated as a Fresh Market grocery store for approximately five years after Associated Food Stores purchased the Albertsons stores in Utah.
People who have prescriptions with the pharmacy at the Logan location will automatically have their prescriptions transferred to the Providence Macey’s pharmacy at 50 North Highway 165. Additionally, all Perks rewards will be accessible at the Providence location and any other Macey’s location.
